The Hub — Your Monthly Look Behind the Scenes (Vol.2)

Welcome to the second edition of our monthly format: The Hub

Summer’s in full swing, and that always brings its fair share of challenges for a studio. Between our team’s well-deserved vacations and the limited availability of suppliers and partners, things slow down a bit. We’re still making solid progress on several exciting fronts, and honestly, it feels great. So let’s dive into the details!

Rayman The Board Game

We’ve just received the paper pre-production samples and they look fantastic! We’re really happy with the result, and everything seems to be in perfect order. That means we’re 100% ready on the printed components side.

Now, the final step is validating the figures samples. That process has been slightly delayed, as we needed to make some final adjustments to the models and sync up with the factory. We’re aiming to kick off that phase within the next two weeks and receive the samples within the timeframe set by the manufacturer.

That said, this does push our production timeline back a bit. While we initially aimed for a June delivery, it’s now looking more like the end of the year. We’re truly sorry for this delay and are doing everything we can to move things forward as quickly and smoothly as possible.

Just a quick reminder: the Pledge Manager will close at the end of July. We’ll be sharing an update on both Kickstarter and Gamefound one week prior to give all backers a heads-up. As of today, we’re 66% complete.

Vampire: The Masquerade — CHAPTERS (Definitive Edition + EPILOGUE)

The pre-production samples are currently being printed, and we expect to receive them sometime in July. We’ll share some photos in the next update. This is the final validation step for us—and we can definitely feel the pressure rising. With a game this massive (nearly 850,000 words including EPILOGUE), even the tiniest mistake can snowball into a big issue. That’s why each revision feels monumental.

Last month, we had the full English copy of EPILOGUE proofread and copyedited. Once our translation pipeline is fully integrated into the engine, we’ll move forward with localizing the expansion EPILOGUE.

We truly hope you’ll enjoy this expansion. It’s filled with fresh ideas and thoughtful narrative moments that bring a meaningful and cohesive conclusion to the CHAPTERS experience. We can’t wait to hear what you think! We will run a few playtests of one or two scenarios in the coming weeks. Interested? Just sign up here.

There was a missing part in the rulebook we shared in the last update (regarding Masquerade Breach). Here are the updated links to the corrected version (we’ve also fixed the old URLs, just in case). We’ll be making these documents available on the CHAPTERS website soon as well:

Digital version (PDF)
Deluxe version (PDF)

Stickers

The German translation for the stickers is finally complete and will now be integrated into our framework. Spanish is currently being finalized by a new translator, Marie O’Neil. We’re getting close to wrapping up all stickers content and moving into mass production very soon.

F.R.O.G.S. and App (iOS + Android)

We’re still hard at work on our internal tool to get the app ready for release by the end of the summer. We still have a few features to complete before we can finalize the the exports for responsive devices.

Good news: once downloaded, the app won’t require a constant internet connection. It works offline and gives you access to the full game content. In other words, you’ll be able to play CHAPTERS—and its EPILOGUE expansion—even from a remote cabin in the woods, totally offline.

We’re doing our best to move quickly. Stay tuned!

Werewolf: The Apocalypse — RETALIATION

Over the past month, we focused heavily on writing the Character Creation Guide. While it still needs a bit of layout work, we’re really happy to have this milestone behind us — it means character creation is now locked in and won’t be changing in upcoming reviews.

We also shared a short interview with our designer Cyril, where he dives into his creative process and the design revisions he’s brought to the game. If you’re curious about how we think, how we build, and what’s changed under the hood — it’s definitely worth a read.

The design team is dedicated to Werewolf: The Apocalypse — RETALIATION, and we’ve made solid progress revising new scenarios. Yes, even with some team members taking some much-needed summer vacation, we’ve managed to proofread and copy-edit the first 10 scenarios in English.

We’ll soon be launching internal playtests for RETALIATION and would love to gather as much feedback as possible, especially on the new systems. Some of you have already reached out — thank you! Interested in participating? You can sign up here.

Our Tools and Next Steps

We keep working on our tool, the F.R.O.G.S. For the past two weeks, we implemented an image cropping tool that helps the designers selected the right area to crop on a picture (on top of which the grid and tokens must be placed) and export an image. The complexity here resides in the need we have to manage both PDF (print ready) and responsive versions for the app, all within the same tool. Building tools like this takes time, but it’s a worthwhile investment, especially for RETALIATION and all our future projects.

Pushing our games forward is our main motivation. Even as a small team, we’re making steady progress every week. Next month, we’ll unveil our general roadmap, offering a clear look at the major milestones and overall progress across all our games.

Feel free to join our Discord server, leave a comment on this update, or send us an email — we love hearing from you. Thanks for all the messages over the past month. We’ve read them all, and your feedback, ideas, and tips have genuinely helped us move forward.

Stay tuned, exciting things are coming!

Came here trying to find and update to the time line of stickers and dice? Last update on KS was Oct 2024 and they were finished with the review. Last update on GF said Q2 2025.
Are we getting them soon, or ever? I’d like to play the game at least once.
Gary Paitre
Hey Jerome,
The stickers are quite a challenge. We’ve finished French and English, but still need to finalize German and Spanish. Hopefully, we’ll be ready for production by early September.
Danil
Any news about 3rd update?
Deny
Huiuiui the Rayman stuff looks great.
I get why you put all your monthly updates in one place. But It would still be nice to get notified through the kick starter, that new information is out. But I also get, that a lot of this process is waiting for stuff. 🙂
Have a good time.
Diego
Hi guys. Would you consider adding a digital upgrade pack for Vampire: The Masquerade — CHAPTERS to the add-ons? Basically, just the box with the tilebook and the few updated materials, so we can have a lighter, smaller version.
Thanks a lot.
Gary Paitre
Hello Diego,
The tile book is already for sale as a separate add-on on Gamefound. The app is free, so any player with the first edition can play the definitive edition.
Diego
Hello Gary. Yes, what you say is true, but my goal was to have a smaller, lighter box on the shelf.
Richard
Bonjour,

I understand the reason for combining updates from your various projects into one place for convenience and to save a bit of time, but could we at least get a generic “New Hub update” w/ a link on the actual campaigns when a new one is out? Should still save time as you’re not tailoring an update for each separate thing and can just copy/paste it, but there’s no real way to know there IS an update if we get no notification for it. Even trying to keep an eye out here semi-regularly, I still missed this by almost a week (also missing the interview that was posted) and I know plenty others had no idea there was an update yet as well.
I get that new posts elsewhere is just providing another space for people to ask questions (or, in some cases, complain) and your trying to reduce where you need to check for questions and comments as well, but I think most of us would really appreciate knowing when the update is available regardless. Perhaps a note with the post that leaving comments here/discord/e-mail is the preferred method for you guys to see it?
Thanks for the update, nonetheless. Looking forward to hearing/seeing more.
Gary Paitre
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. It’s a fair point, and we truly appreciate your honesty.
We fully intend to keep backers updated on both Kickstarter and Gamefound, with at least one meaningful update per project each quarter. These won’t just be simple behind-the-scenes notes, but real progress reports with substance.
That said, managing communication across multiple platforms is extremely time-consuming. Each Kickstarter project has its own dedicated update section, which means we can’t centralize everything in one place. It often feels like juggling three completely separate platforms, which leads to a significant loss of time and energy.
As you mentioned, and as we fully acknowledge, things haven’t been perfect. The RETTALIATION game is delayed, we prioritized other projects, and yes, our communication has been inconsistent at times. We understand the frustration. In trying to make up for that, we sometimes made promises too quickly, hoping to ease concerns. But in hindsight, those turned into unrealistic expectations, which added pressure and hurt the morale of the team. Waking up to see comments calling us scammers, liars, or saying we deserve to go bankrupt is hard—especially when everyone here is working around the clock to deliver the best possible result. It takes a real toll.
For context: in the last two months, we’ve approved 95 comments on this platform (FLYOS Journal), many of which were critical—but respectful. We’ve only denied four that crossed the line. We absolutely want to hear every voice, but that kind of environment is one of the reasons we don’t post monthly updates on Kickstarter.
Thanks again for your message. We may add a pinned message in the comment section soon to keep everyone in the loop, or even implement a subscription-based notification system in the coming months.
Mera'din
I appreciate you getting back to me, sorry I didn’t see it sooner until coming to check for a new update. A subscription system on here that sends out notifications would definitely alleviate some of the difficulty of knowing when a new update is up. Even just a quick post in the announcement section of the Discord would be really helpful for the time being as there are a number of folks that pop in there looking for info.
It’s good to know you’ll still update the campaign pages at least quarterly too, though I think many backers would appreciate these sorts of smaller inside looks, especially with the longer wait for certain projects. Those who read the updates in good faith, at least.
Nonetheless, I definitely understand the situation you’re in though, and the mental health of the team is absolutely more important than just about anything. My money and impatience isn’t worth the suffering of someone else. I’m not here to point fingers or lay blame, and I certainly don’t think you guys are scammers and wish you all the best. I may be disappointed in delays at times, but I don’t see that as a reason to be mean spirited or disrespectful. Despite delays that have happened before, I’ve never not received a project I’ve backed from you guys so I have full trust I’ll get those that are still in the works.
Thank you again for your time, and I wish you the best in your continued work on everything. I look forward to the next update!
Trent
Excited to see the samples starting to come in for the Rayman board game! I was a tad disappointed that the game wasn’t coming in June or July – it would’ve made for a great birthday present – but if you guys can get it to my doorstep by the end of the year like you say you will, things will work out just fine.
One quick question: in the last update Gary told me that the set of 10 skins would keep the figures when it goes to retail instead of using standees. Does this mean that the skins aren’t going to retail, or does it mean that only that “expansion” will have figures in retail? If the latter is true, does that mean that there might be some sort of paid upgrade for the base and expansion characters when the game goes to retail that includes their non-Lucky Ticket figures?
Gary Paitre
Hi Trent,
Just to clarify: Retail will stock only the base game and the 5-6 player expansion—neither of these editions includes figures. A few stores may also carry the “Set of 10 Skins,” but those will be limited; we’re reserving most of them for our own online shop as collectible items. And eventually, we do plan to offer a figures kit (base game + expansion) in a later reprint, likely with the second production run.
Hope that helps!
