The Hub — Your Monthly Look Behind the Scenes (Vol.4)

Welcome to FLYOS Game Development Update #4

Back-to-school season is in full swing, and everyone’s back from their (well-deserved) summer breaks. We’ve got plenty of exciting news to share! Progress is moving forward on RETALIATION, we’ve built some beautiful production samples for CHAPTERS, and our RAYMAN miniature 3D models are ready for molding (and they look absolutely stunning). Let's dive into your monthly look behind the scenes!

Vampire: The Masquerade — CHAPTERS (Definitive Edition + EPILOGUE)

PRODUCTION SAMPLES

Here are a few pictures of the production samples we just received. The quality of the components for this new edition fully meets our expectations. There are a few details we need to review with LongPack, the game manufacturer. We will also carefully go through every component, one by one, with each team member involved. Once this step is validated, only two stages will remain: the translation of the game (base game and expansion) and the release of the mobile application. Of course, these two elements are linked since the app will only be finalized once the translation is complete.

TRANSLATIONS

The translation process for the game is fairly straightforward. The base game localizations already exists (1st edition). The translators’ task is to go back to the previously translated edition, identify the differences with the new version, and update the text accordingly. In parallel, we are also trying to improve the previous translation where possible. This process is long and meticulous, but we had already manually completed about 30 percent. This step was on hold while we waited for our translation tool to be ready. Now it is! The FROGS application is fully operational (even if it will always benefit from future upgrades and optimization). All the tools are now available for translators to insert the revised text and continue their work.

Then there is EPILOGUE. None of it has been translated yet. It includes eight scenarios, which will take some time, but nothing compared to the workload of CHAPTERS, which had more than sixty scenarios.

In short, the process is moving forward, and as soon as this step is completed, you will be the first to know.

APP

We continue to make progress on the mobile application, which is already complete from a technical standpoint. What remains now is fine-tuning and layout adjustments to ensure the app is as user-friendly as possible (font sizes, margins, image optimization, etc.). We are not in a rush, as the app will only be truly complete once the translation is done. This allows us to polish it thoroughly and even involve some backers to gather feedback as the app gets refined.

STICKERS

We are genuinely excited to confirm that the layout for the stickers is 100 percent finished in all four languages. We will be sending these files to LongPack for printing next week, and we look forward to receiving them and having them shipped to every player who requested them. The form will be closing on September 30th, so there is very little time left to order it. This will be the one and only print run of the sticker kits. After that, only the mobile app will be available (which remains our main recommendation for playing CHAPTERS).

Thank you to all backers for your patience. Feel free to take a look at the four guides available for the stickers. If there is one thing to highlight, it's the perfect timing!

Rayman The Board Game

The samples for the 21 miniatures are still in development at LongPack. The 3D models have been fully approved, and each piece has already been broken down in preparation for the molding phase. We expect to receive physical miniatures for approval by the end of the month. This means we should have minis to show you in the next update (we cannot wait).

Figures samples resin hand-painted for proof of concept before final molding

Once these models are approved by both us and Ubisoft, we will move forward with the molding process (the creation of the metal tools used to manufacture the miniature components). After that, mass production can begin.

At the same time, we are finalizing distribution orders with our partners (Canada, US, Germany, and Poland already confirmed), and we are still on track to launch production of the game by the end of the year, with the goal of delivering to you as quickly as possible. We will keep you informed.

A few weeks ago, we shared an exclusive interview with Maxime Tardif, co-designer of Rayman The Board Game. Get a behind-the-scenes look at his creative process in just 10 questions.

We would also like to take this moment to wish a happy 30th anniversary to our favorite limbless hero! Rayman has transcended generations to become a true icon of video games. We are proud to have contributed to his legacy by creating the official board game, earning the trust of Ubisoft, and hopefully the excitement of players once they have it in their hands.

Werewolf: The Apocalypse — RETALIATION

The team has been heads down, polishing systems, testing content, and making sure this milestone truly moves the game forward. A freshly revised version of the rulebook is (finally) ready for you. The goal with this pass was clarity and flow: cleaner wording, tighter examples, and simpler setup steps so you can get to the action faster.

Download the new rulebook (English only)

We have sent a package of TTS (Tabletop Simulator) files to a group of 30 backers who subscribed previously. This first wave will help us validate pacing, difficulty curves, and decision clarity. If you would like to receive the TTS files as well, please send us an email at info@flyosgames.com, and we will add you to the list. In a few weeks / months, these TTS files will be converted into "workshops" and will be freely accessible to all players on Steam.

We’re thrilled to welcome Paul, a game designer with a strong background in combat systems, to the RETALIATION team. His focus will be on speeding up development, pressure-testing our mechanics, and keeping our turnaround fast and efficient. With more talent on board, the momentum only grows. We’re continuing to invest time, energy, and skilled people into the game to ensure it becomes the strongest title in our catalog. Thank you for your patience — the wait will be worth it.

And more...

We’re glad to share that NEXT Tabletop has officially joined us as our localization partner. They’ve already started reaching out to new territories, which means more players around the world will soon be able to experience our games in their own language. It’s a huge step forward in making our stories and universes accessible to a broader community, and we couldn’t be happier to have such a strong partner by our side.

On the tabletop side, we’re also preparing our next board game, this time in collaboration with a major publishing partner. FLYOS will act as the creative studio, shaping the vision and art direction alongside none other than Manuel Rozoy (TIME Stories, Altered). Bringing together his design genius and our art/creativity approach feels like the perfect recipe for something truly special. We can’t wait to show you what we’ve been cooking up together.

Join our Discord server, leave a comment on this update, or send us an email — we truly enjoy hearing from you. Thank you for all the messages over the past month.

Stay tuned. Exciting things are on the way!

i cannot finish my pledge for rayman because the pledge manager is closed. has the deadline been announced? can i get refund?
Gary Paitre
Send us an email at info@flyosgames.com and we will help you complete your pledge, even if the PM is closed.
Xeno
Hello, do you have any idea when we will receive our orders? At least an approximate month would be helpful, as I am not often at home to receive it.
Gary Paitre
We will include a milestone for each project in this month’s Kickstarter update.
Trent
The Rayman minis look pretty good even in the early stages, so I can’t wait to see how they look when you guys finish them up!
On another note, I noticed that Red Square Games announced that they’d be releasing Rayman: The Board Game in Polish. On that page, they say that (roughly translated) “Along with the base game, which will be available in two versions (basic and deluxe), there will also be an expansion for 5-6 players!”. What is this deluxe version of the base game? Does it just include the minis from the crowdfunding campaign, or is there something else going on?
Thanks for the update, and happy 30th anniversary to Rayman!
Gary Paitre
Hello Trent,
Thanks for your kind message!
The Deluxe Edition is the version of the game that includes the figures. That means all Kickstarter backers automatically receive the Deluxe Edition.
The Retail version, on the other hand, comes with standees instead of figures, that’s the only difference. Simple as that 🙂
Krystian
Hello
Red Square Games just informed that they will be responsible for translating a polish version of Rayman Board game, which wasn’t available during the campaign or pledge manager. Will there be any option for backers to switch language version of the game to the newly announced polish one?
Gary Paitre
That’s an excellent question, thanks for reaching out. Please feel free to email us at info@flyosgames.com, and we’ll see what we can do.
The only limitation I can see is that the version available locally is the retail edition, which doesn’t include miniatures. We don’t currently have a Polish version with minis. That said, the game itself isn’t very text-heavy. Once the rulebook translation is complete, the Polish version of the rulebook will be available as a free download on our website. So in the end, it may be better for you to keep your current copy and simply use the translated rulebook.
Magdalena
Red Square Games (publisher responsible for polish version) has declared the release of both the basic and deluxe versions – I guess the deluxe one contains minis. I have ordered english version on Gamefound, but I would like to receive the cards and rulebook in polish. What can I do?
Gary Paitre
Hello Magdalena,
We’ll check what’s possible. Could you please email us at info@flyosgames.com to make your request for the Polish language?
Thanks again!
Diego
Hello everyone at flyos. I’d like to know what other languages your games will be translated into thanks to the collaboration with Next Tabletop. Do these translations only concern future projects or do they also apply to ongoing ones? If I could have WtAR in my language, I’d be willing to wait for a possible wave 2. Thank you so much for everything.
Thijs
Hi FLYOS team,
Because I missed the reasoning behind the “Sticker Kits” in Chapters. The following sentence got me concerned:
“This will be the one and only print run of the sticker kits. After that, only the mobile app will be available (which remains our main recommendation for playing CHAPTERS).”
You recommend playing CHAPTERS with the mobile app, regardless of releasing a new Definitive Edition? Could you elaborate on that?
Additionally, what I am mostly missing from this monthly is a timeline update for Chapters, is there an update on this or an accurate and up to date schedule that can be shared?
Thanks for all the information.
Gary Paitre
Hello Thjis,
You can already play the first edition of CHAPTERS with the app. The sticker sheet is only a patch that lets players enjoy the 1st edition bug-free without using the app. However, we recommend the app instead, since it includes a broader range of fixes and displays the Definitive Edition, not just a patch.
As for schedules: we avoid giving dates until we have precise timelines. All official dates will be announced directly on the dedicated Kickstarter pages.
Rene
For playing Chapters it‘s recommended to use the stickers or the app (or buy the Upgrade pack). The definitive edition will (hopefully, I still believe Flyos can make it) be playable with the chapter booklets or the App. That‘s how I understand Flyos.
Regarding a missing timeline, I‘d say nothing changed. We‘ll get our games in Q2/Q3 2026. My personal opinion is, Flyos will ship the definitive Edition at the same time as Retalliation in Q3/Q4 2026.
Rene
157 Pages of Sticker for the german Version. I‘m glad, I bought the Upgrade pack.
57 Pages of rulebook for Retaliation seems a lot. Either the rules are too complex or Not we’ll written. I don‘t know how to do better, but I‘m not a Game Designer.
Gary Paitre
Hello René,
You’re right, that’s a lot of mini stickers! 🙂
As for the rulebook, 57 pages is actually on the regular side compared to other games in the genre. For example, Kingdom Death has 236 pages, and Gloomhaven clocks in at 52. With dungeon crawling, RPG elements, evolving characters, and so many layers, there’s quite a lot to cover.
Have you had a chance to read through the new version of the rulebook? We’d really appreciate any constructive feedback you might have on the actual content — it would be incredibly helpful for us to improve clarity before we move forward with printing.
Thanks again for your input!
Rene
Made it to p44 today:
– If I understand critical hit values and effects on p28 right, the attacking player does the critical effect stated on the enemy state card, when reaching the critical hit value. Two things about that: While playing solo you got a 1/4 possibility to trigger the effect, because caern allies won‘t roll, they hit automaticly. That‘s a big deal, 3/4 of the pack can‘t crit (same counts for glorious attacks). The other thing is, that the crit effect should be determinated by the used weapon (Katana=bleeding, shotgun=hits enemies behind the target…) not the attacked enemy. The example on p28 shows a spider, which gets poison damage when a player attacks and crits it. Why should my crit with s a baseball bat, a knife, a gun or my claws inflict poison damage?
– The rules order isn‘t great. On p32 under the topic SYSTEMS the first „system“ is movement, where you talk about Player movement, followed by other „systems“. Every good rulebook I read the past decade got a section about „Playes/Hero phase“ with all stuff explained they can do while it‘s their turn. Followed by „Enemy phase“, explaining what they‘ll do. That‘s easier, because you can go through every step the first few scenarios to learn the game. See Gloomhaven Round Overview (p16-31) or Massive Darkness 2 (p16-25). They explain things in order, much cleaner and in a way, you can just go through step by step. Your Movement examples on p33 are great to understand moving enemies! LoS examples on p34, too!
– Typo on p38: „A Round can ends in to ways:“
– Typo on p44: „Rounds, in which Players and NPCs take Turn.“
– solo players on p44: „Combat end when… The Players are Defeated (Even if an Ally NPC is still
alive). In this case, the scenario ends in failure.“ A solo player loses combat much easier than a pack full of Players. You should change that rule.
I like the overall writing and explanation. English isn‘t my first language, but I understand 99% (I hope!). Please consider some of my changes, especially concerning the caern allies. While the campaign was running, the game was for 1-4 Players. With the changes you made, the fun in a 1-2 player game is way less, compared to a full group.
Gary Paitre
Thank you for all this constructive feedback. We’ll definitely consider all these points with the design team.
Rene
Okay, read till p25, here are some things:
– If caern Events are linked to a specific scenario, why do they need an own card? Wouldn‘t it be easier if the caern event would ne written right above the scenario?
– Under caern events it‘s written: „All Caern Events can be found in the CAERN EVENTS BOOKLET.“ instead of refering to the card pool.
– On p12: „The miniature for Crinos Form is 2 hexes wide instead of 1.“ is written two times.
– Idea: instead of using a Color Slot, you could make 4 different boards with its coresponding color.
– The rage tracker grafic on p18 on the buttom is different (but much better imho) to the other grafics.
– Minions do need s standee, too! Fighting for example 6 rats, all of them represented by a token ruins the table presence.
– On p25: „At the end of each Spirit turn, the Cube by 1 slot to the left on the Spirit tracker.“ Verb is missing.
And I need to say and ask some things about caern allies. Do caern allies got all three forms? On p24 it’s written, they can’t talk or investigate, that sucks playing solo, because you got just one player you can skill Social skills with. Even the +1/+1 Bonus with two caern allies won’t help there. If caern allies don‘t got a crino form, they probably suck fighting. It would be much harder to play solo or with 2 players compared to a full group of Players.
Another question about caern allies was unanswered, too: Do they use minis or standees? The rulebook says „NPCs (caern allies Are considered as NPCs) are represented on Tile with standees or tokens.“ I would hate it to play the game with a pack of four using just one miniature at the time. Imho they need to be represented by a mini. You should make sure, their state card picture matches one of the minis.
If I got some time left, I‘ll continue Reading.
Gary Paitre
Some of your feedback is very insightful, while other suggestions would significantly raise production costs and can’t be implemented. That said, we’ll carefully review everything and make sure the typos are fixed quickly.
Thank you!
Philippe PETIT
